Start a rock-band conversation
A band story can begin with an unfinished song rather than a concert. Choose the role you want to play and the part of the group's history that matters to the scene.

Put one decision in the rehearsal room
The group could be choosing an arrangement, deciding who should take a solo, or returning to a song someone wanted to abandon. Give each side a reason for wanting a different result.
Instead of asking everyone to speak at once, address the character involved in the decision. Let another band member interrupt only when their perspective changes the conversation.
Move the story away from the stage
A delayed departure, a quiet breakfast, or a misplaced notebook can reveal relationships that a performance does not. Establish what your character knows about the group and what they are still trying to understand.
For original musicians, write a shared history and a few habits into their backgrounds. Real-band-inspired profiles remain fictional portrayals; an imagined disagreement is not an account of the artists' actual private lives.
